Baked Pumpkin and Turkey

The holidays are a time for feasting not only for us but for our beloved pups. I'm also a sucker for those mini pumpkins they sell at the grocery store because they dress up the table and really get me in the festive mood.

I used to throw out these pumpkins after several months but this time I thought, why don't I bake it and use it as the edible bowl for my dog's meal?

Stuff The Pumpkin With Your Dog's Favorite Food

Let your imagination run free and stuff this pumpkin with your dog's favorite meal. Ideas include:

  • Kibble drizzled with a veggie puree
  • Cook up any of your dog's favorite proteins, mix some egg, seafood and organ meat (this is what I did)
  • Cook the pumpkin but for the raw feeders, you can put their raw meal inside

About That Pumpkin Portion

We've all heard how pumpkin can soothe your dog's tummy. That said, everything should still be fed in moderation. Be sure to scoop out excess pumpkin (which you can save for the next meal) and serve as follows:

  • One tablespoon for every 20 pounds your dog weighs
